The Origin Story
Every place has a soul. Listen to the whispers of the past and the rhythm of the present.
“Eat noodles while dangling your legs over the Nan River.”
Hanging-legs noodles (Kway Teow Hoi Ka) is THE must-eat experience in Phitsanulok, unique to this city alone. Wooden platforms extend over the Nan River right in front of Wat Yai, where you sit cross-legged or dangle your feet above the flowing water. The noodles are Tom Yum-style boat noodles — a rich, spicy broth with pork or beef, fresh herbs, and a squeeze of lime. The riverside breeze and temple views make every bowl taste better. Shops open early and sell out by mid-afternoon, so arrive before noon for the best selection. Budget about 30-40 baht per bowl.
The most iconic food experience in Phitsanulok — sitting on wooden platforms over the Nan River with your legs dangling above the water while eating delicious boat-style noodles.
